FOUNDER OF OUR SCHOOL
LATE BABU PRATAP NARAYAN SINGH JI
Located in the heart of the fertile “Doaba”—the rich floodplains shaped by the sacred rivers Rapti and Gorra—Pratap Narayan Singh Janta Inter College, Barhi (Sonbarsa, Gorakhpur) stands as a symbol of knowledge, discipline, and cultural heritage. Situated approximately 30 kilometers from the historic city of Gorakhpur in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, the institution has been illuminating young minds for over seven decades.
More than just a school, it is a nurturing ground where the hidden potential of rural youth is discovered, developed, and transformed into excellence.
The foundation of this esteemed institution was laid on 2nd July 1947, just before India’s independence—a time when the nation was preparing to rebuild its future through education.
With the noble vision of spreading education in the remote Kachhar region, three great visionaries came together:

Shri Nandkishore Shukla
Shri Brahmadev Rai
They established a Vernacular Middle School at Kona Cantonment, which later grew into this prestigious institution.
